The PPFMA has dedicated its resources to serving the communities
surrounding Colorado Springs and Pikes Peak. Its repeaters are
made available to the various emergency communications groups to serve
during times of emergencies, and also during routine public service
events.
Below is a list of activities which have been approved by the PPFMA
operations committee. These activities have been granted use of the
repeater(s) to fulfill their communications goals. Although permission
has been granted to use the repeater, the following rules apply:
- EMERGENCY traffic has priority.
- Organizations are granted permission to use the
repeater with priority given to them, but they do not have sole use of
the repeater.
- All other traffic should be accommodated by the
using organization as much as possible.
- Failure to comply with these procedures may
result in denial of future use of PPFMA resources.
- All routine traffic is permitted when the
priority user is not actually talking on the repeater.
- There is no need for net control to announce,
"There is a net in progress." to a station making a routine call.
- Should a routine call interfere with net
operations, net control should announce that there is a net in progress
and request the stations to expedite their traffic.
- Net control has responsibility to ask non-net stations if their
traffic is of an emergency or priority nature. If so, then the non-net
station will be allowed to pass their traffic.
